Case Study: Digestion - Lymphocytic Colitis
The Problem
Valerie was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis and was put on Budesonide. She reported a weak stomach along with low energy levels and chronic diarrhea. She would have up to 8 bowel movements a day. She never went anywhere without knowing where the nearest bathroom was. Her bloodwork was showing signs of low iron and electrolytes from all the fluid loss and malabsorption.
The Solution
I worked to modify her diet replacing some inflammatory foods with healthier choices. I also recommended supplements designed to improve absorption and reduce the presence of pathogenic bacteria in the gut.
The Result
In short time, her bloating and cramping became less and the frequency of her bowel movements decreased to more normal levels. She could go out shopping again with no worries! She also reported being able to come off her medication and lead a more ordinary life.
Case Study: Digestion - Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
The Problem
Sadie was a college student diagnosed with methane and hydrogen positive SIBO. She also worked in film and had a difficult time moving her equipment around at her job. She had been on antibiotics, but saw no resolution. Iron infusions were also needed because of malabsorption. Fatigue and afternoon migraines were common and eating resulted in stabbing pains and constipation.
The Solution
Over several months, I worked with her to rebalance her gut microbes and support digestion.
The Result
She saw a great deal of improvement in energy, absorption and sleep. Her gastric pain subsided. A number of supplements helped reduce menstrual cycle severity. Her tolerance for foods that previously gave her issues improved greatly. Ultimately, she was able to move her film equipment around with no discomfort and lead a much more normal life.
